A Mother-Daughter Duo Debuts Illustrated Love Letter to Local Watershed and WildlifeFAIRHOPE, AL —Fairhope’s local mother and daughter team, Jolene Thibodeaux and Isabella Emerald, are thrilled to announce the release of their debut children’s book, Bowa Blue (launching July 1st, 2026)Inspired by their daily adventures along the great Mobile/Tensaw Delta watershed, this beautifully illustrated book invites young readers and families to explore the vibrant ecosystems and unique creatures that call Southeast Alabama home.
Born from a desire to teach local children about environmental stewardship, Bowa Blue weaves together Thibodeaux’s lyrical storytelling with Emerald’s breathtaking illustrations, capturing everything from Eastern Shore alligators and playful dolphins, to the hidden life in the local rivers.

Bowa Blue uses vibrant, highly-stylized illustrations and engaging, traditional storytelling to teach
lessons in confidence through outdoor exploration.

LESSONS & STORIES:Bowa Blue is the story of a young boy exploring the Mobile/Tensaw Delta as he learns to accept himself with the help of his wildlife friends.Inspired by multi-generational exploration of the beautiful state of Alabama, the story delivers a crucial message, relating to the stewardship of our planet in a way that is accessible to children.ages 4-9
